June 20 & 21st:

The Steam traveled down to Abington PA to the 7th annual Meltdown Lacrosse Tournament hosted by NxT. This marked the 5th consecutive year that Steam has attended the tournament. In the past a number of Steam teams have come close to hoisting the trophy but this year’s Varsity squad dug deep with a short manned roster to win the 2015 High School A Division Championship. Facing Cougar Lacrosse (Springfield-Delco) in the title game Steam found the net early off the opening faceoff. A quick 4v3 run to perfection allowed Griffin Whitman (Saucon Valley) to score just 8 seconds into the game. The rest of the game was a hard fought defensive battle for both teams. Steam was able to take a 2-0 lead after Michael Morales (Liberty) dodged hard down the right alley and stuck a shot backside pipe. Alex Sabram (Southern Lehigh) put one more goal in before halftime off a beautiful feed from Noah Lycett (Southern Lehigh). Ben Johnston (Southern Lehigh) would put two more scores on the board for Steam in the second half to secure a 5-0 win. Goal tender Joey Stevenson (Parkland) was lights out saving 12 for 12 shots on goal. The Steam JV team also found success finishing 3-2 on the weekend with their only losses being to the teams who would eventually play one another for the High School B Championship.
